Star of the Art and Craft World – Lovely Pigeon

This post, I hope, is the start of a new feature where I bring attention to Scottish artists and crafters and their wares. It is becoming more and more common to find small shops supporting local craft talent throughout Scotland and I feel it’s important to give them as much support as possible. I’ll be picking people/companies whose work is available online so don’t be put off by the Scottish angle!

The first company I want to showcase is Lovely Pigeon. The artist behind the name is Kirsty Thomas. Originally creating button brooches with personalities, she is currently working with skrinkable plastic to produce gorgeous pieces ranging from illustrated birds to the latest collection called Pigeometry.

Here is an example from the latest collection which includes brooches and ear-rings; angular, geometric shapes with a nautical, ice-cream flavour….very appropriate for summer (the one that we are all imagining in our heads, not actually experiencing). Lovely Pigeon is also beginning to branch out into stationery, which I can see me purchasing in the near future! The other great thing about the products is that they are extremely reasonably priced (necklaces range from £16 – £20).

The blog contains a list of stockists both in the UK and Internationally so it’s worth checking out. In the UK the easiest place to buy is Not on the High Street. Looking forward to seeing how the range develops but in the meantime I’m going to spruce up the summer wardrobe with this pendant!

If you know of any Scottish arts/craft business which deserve some promotion let me know. Also keen to hear about fab international artists and crafters to add to the collection!
