I’m having a chilled-out weekend and it is lovely. With being busy last weekend and plans for next, I thought I would be minimally sociable and actually tackle Busy Thistle Headquarters by getting on top of the clutter. It’s been quite shocking the stuff that has been lying around here for years that I don’t actually need. I’ve also been getting round to doing the small DIY jobs that don’t take long but seem to require a huge amount of energy to make the effort to do them! The Parentals have been helping out by taking bags of stuff to the skip and the charity shop, as it won’t fit into my little car! Following a Sunday visit to the dump, we decided to head out for lunch afterwards and ended up at Jessie’s Kitchen in Broughty Ferry.
This place is a gem and it’s advisable to book a table. It mainly does breakfast, brunch, lunch and afternoon tea and everything is tasty! I had a pulled pork roll with salad, however the salad consisted of an interseting homemade rice salad with peas and mint, and a carrot salad with pumpkin seeds and cranberries – not your bog standard limp lettuce. Many of you however will not be able to visit but I thought this post was worth doing because they’ve spent a bit of time on the interior and I loved it. Maybe not your cup of tea if you don’t like pink but still fun!
Dundee and Broughty Ferry is littered with huge mansions built at the peak of Dundee’s economic success with jute and whaling in the Victorian era. Some lucky people actually own these buildings, some have been split into expensive flats, and others have been taken over by private businesses. I’ve been lucky to have a peek inside a few over the years, but it’s nice that the general public can get a look here, at Jessie’s Kitchen, and all for the price of a tasty coffee and cake!
Anyway, not much planned for the rest of the day. Some more tidying up and some dozing on the sofa I think. I had the girls round last night and there was much food and drink consumed, including glittery profiteroles, so a wee snooze maybe just in order! Hope you’re having a lovely weekend too – I’d love to hear what you’re all up to!
