A British Seaside Afternoon Tea
This weekend my sister and I made a birthday afternoon tea for the Patient Mama. Choosing a theme was tricky until I hit on the idea of the British Seaside, inspired by our recent travels down south!
Bunting was made, beach balls purchased, and buckets and spades were unearthed. Food-wise, for the savouries we had cucumber starfish sandwiches, mini sausage sandwiches, mini cones of fish and chips and prawn cocktail.
Coming up with an appropriate beverage was a bit tricky so we took the easy option and washed the tea down with prosecco! Savoury was followed by sweet and consisted of cupcake ice cream cones, jam sandwich lollipops and chocolate madeleines. There should also have been some mini sandcastle-style jellies but unfortunately they didn’t set in time…
Anyway, it was a lovely afternoon, and to top it all off, the sun came out – perfecto! What have you been up to this weekend?
